Travelin' Man
Once again time slips by and a posting becomes long overdue!
Well, the summer is officially over, not that you can tell by the heat here in So Cal!
We did take a last minute summer vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii! A BIG aloha & thank you to Danny & Renee for the use of their great condo. It was fab!
We had a bit of a rocky start, however, our flight felt more like a boat than a plane.Shortly after take off, the plane started to rock side to side. It was about 10 to 15 mins before the pilot figured out what was going on and we were forced to return to LAX.

Then the nightmare started. Delta had very little information for us on how they planned to get all of the passengers to the Big Island. Short story goes like this... 9 hrs later we went home to sleep in our own bed and made it to Hawaii late the following day.
On this visit to Hawaii, we had some local guides. My old roommate, Kevin, and his wife, Angela, now live there. And, conveniently just down the road from where we were staying! Mahalo for the tips & it sure was great to see them. Kevin's pidgin is coming along nicely too. Angela's still needs some work, but she has the aloha spirit! Yeah, Brah!
One of their best tips was the Black Sand Beach right near our condo! Very cool, but the sand gets hot, hot, hot! We also dined at a cool restaurant/art gallery (formerly a brothel) in Hawi called Bamboo that serves up a wicked Passion Fruit marguerita!
What a wonderful, relaxing time. We spent lots of time at the beach, swimming and snorkeling. Griffin loved feeding the fish and birds right off of our condo lanai. We also took a very cool fish feeding tour at the Mauna Lani and learned lots about the local sea life. Griffin still keeps asking when we are going back! Not soon enough. Sigh.

Pheww, a little hard to roar with a car in the old pie hole!
Thanks Kev... Now playing Tiddleywinks won't do for Griffin!
How many turkeys can you spot? (right out Kev & Angela's back door)
