Visiting Grandma

We went to visit Jill’s mom last week. She is recovering from heart valve replacement / bypass surgery. She looked well on the way to a full recovery. Pretty amazing what they actually did, they put an artificial artery and valve in her, and what Jill said was it looked the size of a pipe that would go under the kitchen sink.

She is staying with Jill’s sister Gretchen in Camarillo, Griffin loves to visit. It’s a great house with a big backyard to explore and one of those “cement ponds” for added temptation. In addition, there is a much more active dog than Bandit for Griffin to chase around.

Playing Hooky

Last Friday I played hooky from work and went to the LA Zoo with Griffin and Jill. They are building a new gorilla exhibit as well as a new elephant one, so the place is pretty torn up. If you have not been to the LA Zoo, let me tell you, it's a lot of walking before you see any animals. Plus with the detours around the construction, you are never sure where you are at.

Despite this, we had fun watching the Buff-cheeked Gibbons swing around their cage. They are graceful jumping from rope to vine and boy can they move.

Here are some shots of our own Croc Hunter.

Plunge into blogging

Well, Griffin's taking his afternoon nap & Jill is off visiting her mom, leaving me to stick my big toe into the pool of blogging.

Sorry about the bad pun.

I have found in the last couple of years, since Griffin arrived, coincidence??? that we have dropped the ball in talking to our friends and family as much as we would like to. So hence the start of the one and a half way of communication. The half being if someone actually reads this and who know even posts a response... or better yet arrange a "play date".

Boy, my way of thinking has changed, gone are the days of drop-in "kick the can" games in the back yard.

So Griffin learned a few new tricks on Halloween. One was the existence of "Ceats" otherwise know in the adult world as treats. Twix seem to be his favorites. Needless to say at 20 months old, we are the old evil doers limiting his flow of these new and wonderful "naks" translation snacks.

Here is some shots of Griffin the Kid, shot at Descanso Gardens last weekend during the Fall Festival.

Lots of fun was had by all, who doesn't like to sit on old tractors!!!

Another Halloween festivity we try to do annually is carving the ol' pumpkins. Here are this years efforts. Carvers were Myself, Jill, Brett, and Sonia. I will let you figure out who did what...

Also had a visiting from our ghost dog Bandit. No, don't worry we did not knock him off, he's alive and spends more hours sleeping then awake.

As I mentioned early, Jill is off visiting her mom. Her mom just had a heart bypass surgery on Wednesday. She is making an amazing recover especially since she is 88. I'll have Jill fill in the details later.
