Four Wheelin' and other action sports

Well I have to apologize I have become a slacker when it comes to updating the ol' blog.

Come on down Sunday, Sunday, Sunday to the biggest, wildest, truckiest bash! This was the biggest shebang in the last few months Griffin's Monster Truck Birthday!
Jill found a Monster Truck Bouncer & boy did the kids luv it!

Hey Dad that's one bigggggg truck!

Griff's buddy Max and his tribute to the hair bands of the 80's!!

Thanks Jeff Mitchell for the great shots inside the bouncer where he took care not to be hit by any flying kids.

Whoa Dad keeps telling me this is sort of how a waterbed feels

Wheeeeeee..I'm flying

And the Monster Trucks kept coming.

Since my Mom aka Superwoman was visiting us, we had to set off on some hiking adventures. The first trail we went one set off down a river and then took a sharp turn up to a place call Grizzly Flats Well, the water was high and it was late afternoon, so we didn't actually attempt the climb, but fun was had on the portion of the trail we did take.

We also went exploring LA and one of the coolest things we came across was "Noah's Ark" at the Skirball Center. If you haven't gone, we all highly recommend it, you don't even need kids to enjoy it. All the animals are made from found objects!!

Springy Owl

Tea Cup Zebra

One of our attempts for a nice family portrait to remember this Holiday season.

Yea like we are reallyyyy going to get a 3 year old to sit still for longer then three seconds!

Christmas day was spent dreaming about being the next Tony Hawk with Cousin Mike and the gang

Then, we headed out to Vegas and introduced Griffin to snow and snowballs! We took the Escape out for some 4 wheeling fun in Red Rock Canyon. There's a great road called Rocky Gap Road which climbs over the back side of Red Rocks Wilderness Area.

It gains quite a bit of elevation, to the point where the snow was abundant enough to have a good snowball fight! Ultimately, the road became so icy in some spots that we were forced to turn back.

Nani (Grandma) keep making my ammo!
Spat, Smack, Swack... another direct hit!

Mud, you call that mud. I make bigger mud puddles in the backyard with Mom!

Uncle Dick & Jill enjoying the view.

Ice Box Canyon, another frigid part of Red Rock Canyon. Yep, that is all ice in the background... duh I wonder how they came up with the name?

Hiker Griffin following in his Grandma's footsteps!

On the drive back from Vegas, if you know my family, you know they are always looking for new places to explore... We found one just outside of Barstow! Who knew.. Rainbow Basin

It's another off-roading trail. Not too extreme, but very cool.
Bird's eye view of the trail.

Griff's view of the place... Just another place to dig a hole and move dirt!!

To round out my mom's visit we went to check out BCAM at LACMA Yea, it's a bunch of letters which really don't spell any pronounceable words. It's the new modern art building at LA County Museum of Art. Either way you identify it, they have some great modern art pieces there! The first floor has two large scale pieces that you can wander though by Richard Serra..a must see!

I don't want work, I just wanna bang on a drum all day.

Me too!
